A new website is the best chance you will get to be found on Google and recommended by AI, and the easiest one to waste. Most launch problems are not design problems. They are lost rankings, pages Google cannot index and AI crawlers that are blocked from the start. These 12 checks prevent all three.
Before launch
- Keep your old URLs or redirect them. List every page on your current site. If a URL changes, set a 301 redirect from the old address to the new one. Skipping this is the fastest way to lose the rankings you already have.
- Give every service its own page. One page per service, each with one clear H1, its own title tag and meta description. A single “Services” page listing everything rarely ranks for anything.
- Write answer-first copy. Open each page with a plain sentence that says what you do, for whom and where. AI tools quote short, clear statements, not slogans.
- Add an FAQ to key pages. Answer the real questions customers ask, such as price, timelines and process. Each question should live on one page only, so pages do not compete with each other.
- Add structured data. Use schema markup for your organisation, local business details, services, breadcrumbs and FAQs. It tells search engines and AI tools exactly what each page is about.
- Check robots.txt and remove staging blocks. Make sure Google and AI crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot are allowed, and that no “noindex” tag is left over from the development site.
- Test speed and mobile. Most of your visitors will arrive on a phone. Compress images, limit heavy scripts and test every page on mobile before launch.
- Set up tracking before day one. Install Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, and track the actions that matter: form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks. Without this, you cannot tell which channel brings enquiries.
On launch day
- Submit your sitemap. Add the site to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, submit your XML sitemap, and request indexing for your most important pages. Bing matters more than it looks, because several AI tools draw on its index.
- Update your business details everywhere. Make sure your website address, business name, phone number and address match exactly on Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, directories and social media profiles.
In the first 30 days
- Watch for errors. Check Search Console weekly for pages that are not indexed, broken links and 404 errors, and fix them quickly. Early problems are cheap to fix; problems left for months cost rankings.
- Test how AI tools describe you. Ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your customers would ask. Note whether you appear and whether the details are correct, then repeat monthly. Publishing useful articles and earning mentions on trusted UAE sites will move these answers over time.
Why launch is the right moment
Every fix on this list is cheaper during a launch than after it. The pages, the copy and the structure are already being rebuilt, so getting them right for Google and AI adds little extra work. Fixing them later means rewriting, redirecting and waiting for search engines to catch up.
If your new website is in progress, our website design and development service builds these checks into every launch, and What is GEO? explains the AI side in more detail.
